Jill Matthew

Jill has over 25 years of financial and commercial experience in both the private sector and the public sector. Jill began her career as a chartered accountant. Jill joined NorQuest College in 2013 as the Vice President College Services and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, she provided leadership in the provision of services in the areas of Education & Information Technology, Facilities Management, Integrated Planning and Financial Services, and Student Services. Under her leadership, NorQuest College constructed the Singhmar Centre for Learning and completed the renovation of the Civic Employees Legacy Tower, a $190 million campus development project. Jill has also been instrumental in improving the college’s internal controls, information security posture, prevention of fraud and managing risk, and streamlining operational processes to support significant growth in learners over the last number of years.

Prior to joining NorQuest, Jill was an executive with EPCOR for over thirteen years, overseeing various business functions including Strategic Planning, Corporate Development, Billing, Contact Centre, Meter Reading, Metering Operations and Retail Energy procurement. In a prior position as the Divisional Vice President, Customer Services and Business Planning she was responsible for the corporate entity Energy Services, a $300 million subsidiary of EPCOR.

Jill taught accounting for several years for the University of Alberta Extension Program and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and marked exams for the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Jill has served as the Audit Committee Chairperson with Athabasca University and was inducted into the university in 2013. She is currently serving on the Bissell Centre and UDigit Systems boards as well as the Alberta Safety Codes Council. She is the chair of the Safety Codes Governance Committee, and Vice Chair of the Bissell Centre Board of Governors.

Jill holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta as well as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Consultant, and Institute of Corporate Directors designations.
