NorQuest College Welcomes Rob Heron as Chair of Board of Governors

EDMONTON – NorQuest College is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Heron as the incoming Chair of the NorQuest Board of Governors, effective December 18, 2023. Rob succeeds the interim Chair, Tina Naqvi-Rota. 
 
“With over three decades of experience in the accounting and financial sector, Robert Heron is equipped with expertise that spans various industries, including manufacturing, construction, and oil and gas services,” says Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advance Education. “I’m proud to endorse his appointment as Chair of the Board of Governors at NorQuest College and look forward to the positive impact he will have on students and this vital institution.”

The Board of Governors, governed under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act since 1998, provides essential oversight for NorQuest College through effective governance structures and consistent processes. Operating under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act, the college is responsible to Alberta's Minister of Advanced Education, with the Board representing the public in its oversight and stewardship of public resources allocated to NorQuest College.

Rob brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role of Board Chair. He has been with Kingston Ross Pasnak (KRP) LLP since 1993 and is currently Partner at the accounting firm. Rob is skilled in leading business succession and managing financial shifts in manufacturing, construction, and oil and gas services. Rob previously served on the boards of ONEC Construction Group, Edmonton Elks, and Capital Region Housing Corporation. His notable background and extensive involvement in both board governance and the community will ensure a seamless transition from interim Chair, Tina Naqvi-Rota.
