Three new student lounges open on campus

NorQuest is excited to unveil three newly renovated student lounges located on the third and fourth floors of the Singhmar Centre for Learning (SCFL). These spaces have been transformed into lively and cozy lounges designed to provide students with a vibrant-yet-relaxing place to connect and unwind.  

The fourth floor lounge also includes fun games such as a pool table and an air hockey table – both popular features requested by students. These games are free and open to all learners. NorQuesters are invited to explore and enjoy these new spaces, which will undoubtedly become a central hub for student life on campus. 

“Whether it’s taking a break between classes, catching up with friends, or participating in friendly competition, these lounges have something for everyone,” says Patricia Dargis, Project Coordinator, Facilities, Fleet & Supply Chain Management. “They are designed to bring people together, fostering a sense of community among NorQuest’s diverse student body.” 

Another standout feature is the stunning mural by celebrated Edmonton-based artist, Diana Ohiozebau. Entitled Faces of Belonging in a Shared Journey, this 35-by-18-foot acrylic masterpiece symbolizes unity, cultural exchange, and the shared educational journey of NorQuest’s learners. The mural not only adds a splash of colour to the space but also serves as a visual reminder of the college’s commitment to inclusivity and belonging. 

The unveiling of these lounges is part of a broader vision for enhancing student life at NorQuest. With spaces that reflect the needs and desires of its learners, the college continues to champion community and connection.  

The renovation of NorQuest’s three student lounges has been made possible by the generosity of donors via the Maximizing Opportunities campaign, which has supported ongoing upgrades to the SCFL since the building’s inception.
