Tutorial and Academic Coaching has student learning support needs covered

At NorQuest College, your academic journey doesn't have to be a solo mission. Tutorial and Academic Coaching (TAC) services are here to help you unlock your full potential through personalized academic support. Whether you're stressed about exams, struggling to stay organized, or need help mastering course content, TAC has got your back. 

You can access these drop-in services both in person and online, as well as in the Miyo-pimâtisiwin Centre.  If you're registered with Accessibility Services, you can also book weekly coaching sessions. And the best part? Every student can take advantage of these services regardless of their background or learning needs.

What do students have to say about TAC? 

A recent Academic Resilience Survey showed that 82% of students who regularly used TAC reported feeling more confident handling tough subjects, and 76% reported feeling less stressed. Also, 99% of students surveyed agreed that they would be more likely to recommend NorQuest College to others because of the support they received. Services like these can make the difference between struggling and doing well in your studies. 

Jordan Eleniak, who was out of school for 15 years before enrolling at NorQuest, also found academic coaching extremely valuable. With the help of an academic coach, he developed personalized learning strategies, ultimately graduating and moving on to study engineering at the University of Alberta. 

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help,” says Jordan. “Learning as an adult is a lot different than it is in high school. I learn better now, and I found what kind of supports I need for success.” 

Similarly, Alysha McGann, returned to school after 16 years. At first, she didn’t think she needed extra help, but tutoring transformed her academic experience, helping her develop better organizational skills and manage test anxiety.  

"These services are life-changing,” says Alysha. “I am now more than two terms in and maintaining honours grades and I’ve never felt more proud of myself!"
