Digital Asset Management - CMPT 1091

This course develops practical and job-transferable skills in the management of digital assets through building an understanding of the path of data, the steps involved in cataloguing and sharing digital assets, and the value of assets in the digital asset lifecycle. Participants will use a range of software and platforms to organize, transport, retrieve, share and archive digital assets. A focus of the course is on metadata, from entry to retrieval. Key concepts are reinforced through the discovery of DAM terminology and applied immediately in class through interactive exercises. A course-wide workplace simulation gives learners authentic, real-life experience as they build their knowledge and skills. At the end of the course, participants will complete a final project to demonstrate their workplace readiness in the skills needed to manage digital assets in organizations.
