Program requirements for January 2025

Academic requirements
  • Language Arts – this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course:
    • 50% in English Language Arts 30-1
    • 50% in English Language Arts 30-2
    • 50% in ESLG 1860
    • 50% in ESLG 1898
  • Mathematics – this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course:
    • 65% in Mathematics 20-1
    • 65% in Mathematics 20-2
    • 50% in Mathematics 30-1
    • 50% in Mathematics 30-2

Note: Academic admission requirements are different from English language proficiency requirements. NorQuest College English for Academic Purposes courses may be used to meet both requirements. See below for details.

English language proficiency requirements

If English is your second language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency before admission. These results must be no more than two years old when you start your program.

If you are missing requirements for this program, you may be eligible to apply for the NorQuest Bridging to Post-Secondary program.

This program offers open admission pathways for students seeking to further their education. These pathways allow students to enrol in programs and courses without the need for formal prerequisites or entrance exams.

Practicum/work experience requirements

To be eligible for BUSD 1012, you will need:

  • successful completion of 10 common first-year courses and BUSD 1011 with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • to have not failed any of the courses
  • successful completion of an interview process

International students: If you choose to take BUSD 1012, you will need to get a co-op work permit. Apply for your co-op work permit at least four months before your elective course begins.


Progression and graduation

Students must receive a pass grade in each course to progress through the program.

If you are a full-time student in the program and you fail two courses in a term, you will be placed on contractual departmental probation for the following term. Failure to meet the probation requirements may result in forced withdrawal from the full-time program for one full term. Readmission to the program will be subject to departmental review.

If you are a full-time student in the program and you fail three or more courses in any one term, you will need to withdraw for one full term from the full-time program. Readmission to the program will be subject to departmental review.

Students must pass all courses and achieve a minimum 2.0 grade point average (GPA) to qualify for graduation.

Honours criteria

  • Overall grade point average (GPA) greater than or equal to 3.7
  • The student must not have failed or repeated any courses

Technology requirements

Students need a computer with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), and a stable Internet connection for this program. Learn more about Bring your own device.
