Program requirements for September 2025 (General stream)

Academic requirements

Language Arts – this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course: 

  • 50% in English Language Arts 20-1 
  • 60% in English Language Arts 20-2 
  • 50% in ESLG 1860
  • 65% in ESLG 1898

Mathematics – this requirement can be met with any of the following, or an equivalent course: 

  • 65% in Mathematics 10-C 
  • 65% in MATH 1791 
English language proficiency requirements

For applicants whose first language is not English, proof of English language proficiency (ELP) must be provided prior to admission. ELP must have been completed within 6 months prior to application to the program. Acceptable evidence of ELP may be one of the following test scores:  

  • CLBA: No section score below 7  
  • IELTS Academic: 6.0, no score below 5.5 
  • Duolingo 105 
  • TOEFLT iBT: 71 
  • CELPIP General 7: no section scored below 6 
  • CAEL: 60, no section score below 60 
  • NorQuest coursework: Minimum of 80% on ESLS 7000 or 7100, and 80% in ESLW 7000 or 7100; or minimum of 50% in ESLG 1860 and ESLG 1861 

Practicum/work experience requirements

To be eligible for work experience placement, you must successfully complete all other Digital Information Careers Certificate with a specialization in Fundamentals in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence courses and/or demonstrate that you have gained the outcomes of the course work.

International students: You must get a co-op work permit before beginning the work-integrated learning component of the program. A medical exam may also be needed. See Co-op work permit for more information. 


Progression and graduation

Students must pass all courses and achieve a minimum 1.0 grade point average (GPA) to qualify for graduation.

Students must receive a passing grade in each course to progress through the program. To remain in good academic standing, a minimum term grade point average (GPA) of 1.0 is required.

Honours criteria

  • Overall grade point average (GPA) greater than or equal to 3.7
  • The student must not have failed or repeated any courses

Technology requirements

Students need a computer with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), and a stable Internet connection for this program. Learn more about Bring your own device
