Program requirements for September 2025

Academic requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree
Note: Special acceptance to the program may on occasion be approved by the Dean based on equivalent work experience, education, and/or training.
English language proficiency requirements

If English is your second language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency before admission. These results must be no more than two years old when you start your program.

Test scores we accept:

  • Canadian Language Benchmarks: 8 in each strand (listening, speaking, reading, writing)
  • IELTS Academic: 6.0; no section scores below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 83; no section scores below 21
  • PTE Academic: 59-64; no section scores below 56
  • Duolingo: 110

Or one of:

  • successful completion of an Alberta Education English Language Arts course that is consistent with the specified academic admission requirements for the Career Program
  • transcripts demonstrating successful completion of three (3) years of full-time secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
  • transcripts demonstrating successful completion of one (1) year of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction.

Progression and graduation

Students must receive a passing grade in each course to progress through the program. To remain in good academic standing, a minimum term grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 is required. 

The Academic Standing Policy and Procedure provide further details on the categories of academic standing, and the consequences and supports available if a student is not in good academic standing. A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 in the program’s courses is required to qualify for graduation.


Technology requirements

This program is technology-driven and requires a properly equipped computer and additional tech to meet the course requirements.

Students will need a laptop with the following specs:

  • Intel quad core CPU (i5 or i7)
  • 8GB RAM (16GB recommended)
  • 13-inch 1080p screen (15 inches recommended)
  • a dedicated graphics card with 2GB of VRam
  • a 128GB solid state hard drive (256GB recommended)

Additional technology:

  • a portable hard drive (for data backup)
  • Microsoft Windows 10
  • Additional course-specific software as required
  • A stable Internet connection.
