Build your Arts and Sciences path
The Arts and Sciences Diploma programs allow students flexibility to chart their path of study through one required English course, plus the selection of elective courses within the following required disciplines.
Your course of study will look like this:
- 1 Required English course (English 2550)
PLUS
- Science and Math (choose 2)
- Social Sciences (choose 2)
- Humanities (choose 2)
- Indigenous (choose 1)
- Wellness (choose 1)
- Advanced courses (choose 7)
- Additional electives of your choice from any of the above disciplines (choose 4)
Note: You cannot use the same course to meet two different requirements. For example, one course cannot fulfill both a Humanities and an Indigenous requirement, even if the course appears under the list for both disciplines.
New Media, Communication and Technology Specialization
When you apply to the Arts & Sciences diploma program, you'll choose your specialization and meet with an advisor to make sure that your electives meet the specialization requirements.
Choosing your electives for your specialization
Some electives qualify as New Media, Communication, and Technology courses, counting towards both your specialization and core discipline requirements. At least eight of your electives must also be within your chosen specialization.
Don’t forget!
Some courses have prerequisites or co-requisites, so please read the course descriptions carefully to ensure you anticipate these requirements in your course planning.
Do you have questions? Our Arts and Sciences Diploma program advisors are ready to help!
Choose your path
Here is a handy course selection guide that you can use to plan your program of study for your diploma. Select the required number of electives from each discipline, for a total of 20 courses. At least 8 of the courses you choose must qualify for the New Media, Communications, and Technology specialization.
Courses marked with a next to them count towards the New Media, Communications, and Technology specialization requirements.
