Conditional Admission

You may be offered conditional admission if you are:

  • currently registered in courses to meet the academic admission requirements for your program, or
  • an international student admitted to the ESL program to take NorQuest College courses that will meet English language proficiency requirements for a post-secondary program. See below for more details on this option.

Conditional Admission - Academic Requirements

To be considered for conditional admission, use Contact Admissions and attach proof that you are enrolled in course(s) that are required for admission to your program. The proof of enrolment must include the:

  • Name of the institution you are currently attending
  • Name/number, and start and end dates of the course(s) you are enrolled in

Note: Alberta Education transcripts that we receive electronically do not show coursework in progress. If you are requesting conditional admission, attach your Detailed Academic Report as proof of enrolment.

If you are taking the course that is required for admission to your program at NorQuest College, use Contact Admissions to request conditional admission to your program.

Once the Admissions and Transfer Credit Unit has verified that you are enrolled in the required courses and have met all other requirements, you will receive a conditional offer of admission. Your next step is to pay the required tuition deposit ($400 for domestic students, $1000 CAD for international students) to hold your seat in conditional status. The seat will not be held without the deposit payment.

Your conditional offer of admission will indicate the requirements you need to meet before the final submission deadlines. The outstanding item(s) will be shown on your "To Do" list in MyQuest.

  • International students may be given an earlier deadline so that requirements can be met in time to apply for a study permit.
  • Conditional admission will not be offered to applicants enrolling in Open Entry/Open Exit delivery of a program.

Full admission is granted once you have achieved the grades required in the prerequisite courses. In addition, all conditions must be met by the date specified in the conditional offer of admission prior to the final requirements submission deadline. If you fail to meet all conditions by the deadline, your admission will be revoked.

Conditional Admission – English Language Proficiency

This option is being offered as a pilot program to international students only at this time. If you meet all admission requirements for your program except the English language proficiency (ELP) requirement and/or English academic requirement, you may become an ESL student at NorQuest College and receive a conditional offer of admission to a post-secondary program.

To request a conditional offer of admission, submit two applications:

  1. apply to the ESL program for the term when you will begin ESL studies
  2. apply to the post-secondary program of your choice for the next available term

Next, use Contact Admissions to request conditional admission to your post-secondary program. You will also need to provide:

  • your ELP test scores
  • transcripts to show you meet the other admission requirements for your post-secondary program

Your conditional offer of admission will be issued if you will be able to obtain the ELP level required for your post-secondary program within two terms of ESL studies. See the chart below for minimum test scores required for a conditional offer.
