English Language Proficiency Tests

This page provides information for students who wish to meet English language proficiency (ELP) requirements by taking a test such as:

  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
  • CLBA - Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment
  • IELTS Academic - International English Language Testing System
  • CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language
  • CELBAN - Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses
  • CELPIP - Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program
  • other ELP tests as deemed acceptable by the Office of the Registrar

ELP test results must include evidence of competencies in reading, writing, listening, and spoken English. Your test results must be valid and verifiable. ELP test results that are more than two years old will not be accepted.

Submission of ELP Results

NorQuest College requires official ELP results to be submitted directly from the test provider, except in cases where the college can verify your test score online. This chart contains details about specific tests.

Type of Test Acceptable Forms Submission Method
CLBA Original only Results need to be dropped off in person at the Office of the Registrar.
IELTS Academic Scores will be verified through the IELTS online verification system You must email your test report form number to admissions@norquest.ca.
TOEFL Scores will be verified through the ETS online verification system. You must email us at admissions@norquest.ca to let us know your test date.
CELPIP General Original

Photocopies only acceptable when the test was taken at NorQuest.
When tested at NorQuest, photocopy results can be dropped off in person at our Client Services Centre or sent by email to admissions@norquest.ca.
When tested outside NorQuest, originals need to be dropped off in person at our Client Services Centre.

All other ELP test results must come directly from the issuing agency.
