NorQuest College is thrilled to share some exciting news: for the second consecutive year, the institution has been honoured by the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Awards of Excellence.
Once again, NorQuest College has been recognized for its unwavering dedication to fostering community equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
Additionally, we have received honourable mentions for our outstanding contributions to Indigenous Education, and NorQuest learner Renuka Jantz was recognized with the Leadership Excellence Award for Students for her exceptional dedication both in and out of the classroom.
Renuka's story embodies an inspiring example of excellence and perseverance. Despite experiencing vision loss early in her academic journey, she has emerged as a leader among her peers, actively engaging in various extracurricular activities, committees, and volunteer opportunities with unwavering commitment. At NorQuest, Renuka advocates for her fellow learners, particularly mature students and those with disabilities, leveraging her unique experiences to enrich the institution's community. Throughout her tenure, Renuka has consistently maintained a stellar 4.0 GPA in her Settlement Studies program, setting a remarkable standard of achievement.
Guided by the strategic plan, NorQuest 2030: We Are Who We Include, NorQuest is reimagining the post-secondary experience and ensuring accessibility for all individuals. This dedication to inclusivity extends to Indigenous education and reconciliation efforts, as demonstrated through programs like Miyo-pimâtisiwin and the Alberta Indigenous Construction Career Centre.
These awards not only celebrate individual achievements but also underscore NorQuest’s pivotal role in advancing social, cultural, and economic development nationwide. The college is committed to creating a truly equitable, diverse, and inclusive institution through initiatives such as establishing the Office of Equity and implementing anti-racism and decolonial Indigenization efforts.
